This lovely family was my first session of 2010 and my last session of the year. Perfect bookends to a wonderful year.
Yes this is a business, and I understand there are lots of factors in deciding to return each year for a session (or two or three :)), but on a purely personal level I truly get excited and happy when clients return because I enjoy seeing them. As individuals. As families. As friends. And I miss them when, for whatever reason, I don't get to see them again. So I'm thankful for the time I do get to spend with each family. Thank you cute Vincent, Nicholas and your awesome parents. And thank you to all my 2010 and past families! Happy New Year! :)

Wishing you all a joy-filled, peaceful... warm & cozy holidays!
This holiday my cat, Annie, will likely be doing what she seems to enjoy best about the winter -- claiming my bed as her own and burrowing down under the covers for a looong cat nap. The cat hair (and thus the extra laundry) would be an issue if she wasn't so darn cute when she does it! :)
Merry Christmas!

Sometimes it's hard to believe it was once like this not so long ago. This weekend I came across these images I had forgotten about - taken exactly six months ago today. But that means in just six months we'll be back there again! Sunny. Warm. Long days of light. And when those days come again, I vow not to complain about mowing the lawn or cleaning out the gutters... because shoveling is way worse. :)

Thank you for reminding me that there is HOPE! Right now I'm just feeling overwhelmed by the never-ending snow.....

In October baby Andrew arrived and I was so excited to meet him! When he was just two weeks, I spent an afternoon chatting with his mom while getting to hold a sleeping little perfect bundle. The best. :)

So many wonderful one-year-old girls and boys I had the pleasure of photographing this year. When asked what the toughest age is to photograph, I often say one year. They are mobile (might even be walking). They love being mobile. They are determined to do what they want, when they want. Attention span is like .0005 seconds. And bribes... don't yet understand the concept. But all those things also make the shots you get so much fun. Their joy is contagious. You see their little personalities and you root for them. They make me a better photographer.
Thinking about Avery's little giggle still makes me smile. Her mom was rubbing their cat's paw on Avery's face and she thought it was the funniest thing (see second to last image below). In that moment it was just her and her kitty and pure happiness. :)
