I thought I'd share a few more random photos from my time in Las Vegas last month...
This night we were at a gathering on the 56th floor of the Palms Signature. I have some issues with heights so Vegas, in general, was kind of tripping me out. Then we end up on the 56th floor with a balcony. I couldn't go out on the balcony so I handed my camera over to my friend Sam. Thanks Sam!
A view from the window in our hotel room window at the MGM. I think this was the 32nd floor. Thankfully we did not have a balcony in our hotel!

And a few more images from the desert...

Just walking around.
Being a big fan of coke (diet coke to be exact), I had to make a stop in the Coca-Cola store. We tried 16 Coca-Cola products from around the world. Places like Mozambique, China, Tanzania, Peru, South Africa, etc. Not so good. :)

This past week my heart was filled with such joy and gratitude for someone I've never met, actually someone I don't even know. I'm happy that this blog gives me the opportunity to share the story and to thank her...
I recently had a new family contact me to schedule a session for this summer. I always try to ask how a new client heard about me. Not only am I curious, but it's helpful information. She emailed me back quickly and sent me a link to how she found me. It was a link to a blog called "Design Mom". That blogger (who is in Denver) had done a recent post about family photos and asked her readers if they had "seen any terrific family photos lately?".
In the comments was a link to my website along with this text...
"I never understood why I bookmarked this photographer's site a year or so ago, since I'm on the east coast and she's in the Minneapolis area (and we weren't even in the market for a family photographer!). Perhaps it was so that I could send you the information when you asked. I thought she did some lovely work."
It goes without saying how super cool and amazing it is that someone from Minneapolis happens to see this comment and contacts me to schedule a session (what are the odds?). But even more than that, it's overwhelming to me to know that someone out there - someone I don't know - someone who has no obligation to me - took the time to write that comment. I'm moved by the selflessness of this. So, from my whole heart, thank you Lola G. Thank you. :)

My niece, Jocelin, has decided that hockey is her sport. It's so cute how excited she is about it! A few weeks ago I got to take her to skating practice. It was so fun. And being in a hockey arena and seeing all the hockey equipment brought me back to my college days. Oh my, I loved going to hockey games in college. I did confess to Jocelin that a small part of my love of hockey in undergrad may have had something to do with a big crush I had on a boy who played hockey. She thought that was pretty funny. :)

Last week I was in Las Vegas for WPPI, a huge annual photography convention. We are talking thousands and thousands and thousands of photographers. There were many highlights and moments that I wanted to wrap up tightly so I could take them home and open them up when I need a little boost. Little reminders for my heart.
One of the highlights of the trip was a sunrise concert in the desert. How cool is that? And one of the musicians is one of my favorite people. Last summer I attended Jesh de Rox's workshop and to say it changed my life wouldn't be an exaggeration. So besides being a brilliant photographer and just all-around-amazing person, he is an awesome singer/songwriter too.
Thank you Jesh, Sam, Lauren and many others. My heart left Las Vegas full. For that I'm grateful.
And before we get onto some photos... a quick shout-out to the stunningly perfect sunrise desert light. :)
Setting up. Burrr, it was chilly!
Jesh de Rox.

Kelli Schaefer.
